I began getting serious about woodworking out of necessity while remodeling our house in a small town. As I finished cabinetry, trim, and window sills I began looking for other ways to create functional objects that showcased the beauty of wood. Cutting boards were the obvious first outlet.
I began experimenting with different wood combinations and patterns, incorporating ideas from any source I could find.
Eventually, I began hand-carving with knife and axe, as well. I use wood from wherever I can find it, and explore the properties of each tree species.
